UNICERA fair has started with great interest
Turkey’s largest specialized tradeshow UNICERA has started in CNR EXPO Yeşilköy with great attention from national & international visitors.
In UNICERA fair, the Governor of Istanbul Vasip Şahin and TİM (Turkish Exporters Assembly) President Mehmet Büyükekşi have called attention at the ‘Employment Campaign’ led by the President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and have called the ceramic industry into action for their participation into the Turkish employment.
CNR Holding General Coordinator Cem Şenel has commented that “In our fair, we welcome buyer delegations from 40 countries with the support of the Ministry of Economy. The buyers have started their matchmaking with exhibitors within the scope of the B2B matchmaking program. We aim to welcome over 100.000 professional visitors from 126 countries until our show’s end on the 12th of March, Sunday.”

The opening ceremony of the fair which included new products and collections being exhibited for the first time, was hosted by CNR Holding Chairwoman of the Executive Board Ceyda Erem and was participated by Governor of İstanbul Vasip Şahin, TİM (Turkish Exporters Assembly) President Mehmet Büyükekşi, TSF (Turkish Ceramic Federation) Chairman of the Executive Board Ahmet Yamaner, TİMDER (Trade Association for Sanitary & Building Supplies) Vice President Aydın Eşer, CNR Holding General Coordinator Cem Şenel and representors from the industry.
Call to action for Employment Campaign at UNICERA Fair
In UNICERA fair, the Governor of Istanbul Vasip Şahin and TİM (Turkish Exporters' Assembly) President Mehmet Büyükekşi have called attention at the ‘Employment Campaign’ led by the President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and have called the ceramic industry into action for their participation into the Turkish employment. Vasip Şahin has commented, “The employment campaign led by our President is very important for our country. UNICERA Fair hosts an industry like ceramics which could have important contributions towards employment. We are calling everyone for taking their part in national employment”.
TİM President Mehmet Büyükekşi has mentioned on the importance of the Turkish Employment Campaign and said that: “We are also in with the Employment Campaign started by our President. Our goal is to create 300.000 thousand additional employment in the year 2017. We expect UNICERA fair to have important contributions for the ceramics industry and these contributions to take form as increase in employment.
Global ceramic trading is $60 billion
Büyükekşi shared these notes about the ceramics industry: “World trade has increased 2.5 times over the last 15 years. Global ceramic trade increased three times in the same period and reached nearly 60 billion dollars last year. Our country was the 14th most exporting country in 2001. It has risen to 10th place last year. However, our market share in ceramics is still below our potential. In 2002 we had 2.4 percent of world ceramic trade. In the past year, we could get a share of 1.3 percent from this pastry. We can only increase this share with design, R&D, branding and innovation. "
Büyükekşi remarked that the importance of innovation in the industry should be further increased saying "The export price per kilogram of ceramic in Italy and Spain is between 70 and 80 cents. China sells to 46 Cent. I mean, China sells goods more cheaply. R & D, European countries that have developed their R&D, brand and design in this area, sells less goods at higher prices”.
Industry should be based on selling branded products to the Western World
Ahmet Yamaner, the Chairman of the Turkish Ceramics Federation (TSF), stated that UNICERA Fair became competitor to the fairs held in the competitor countries such as Spain, Italy and Germany. Yamaner pointed out the importance of the number of foreign visitors participating in the exhibition, "At UNICERA, we display very good products both in health facts and in coverings. The Turkish ceramics industry has largely succeeded in the production phase. The industry should take the initiative to sell branded products to the Occident" he said.
We welcome buyers from 40 countries
Cem Şenel, General Coordinator of CNR Holding stated that has been raising domestic and foreign visitors to UNICERA from the first day: "We welcome buyer delegations from 40 countries with the support of the Ministry of Economy. Important buyers from all around the world, including countries such as USA, Germany, Italy, France, UK, Spain, Poland, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, BAE, Oman, Jordan and Lebanon, started bilateral negotiations under the B2B Matching Program with exhibitors. The fair will be enf on March 12th, Sunday and we aim to host 100,000 professional visitors from 126 countries. "
The second largest ceramics fair in Eurasia region UNICERA is organized with the support of Istanbul Trade Fairs (ITF), a CNR Holding company, Turkish Ceramics Federation (TSF) and Plumbing and Construction Materials Association (TIMDER). The fair is held on 60,000 square meters of area with the participation of over 1,000 brands. Products such as bathroom products, floor-to-wall coatings, ceramic processing technology, kitchen products, decoration products, packaging, storage are exhibited in the fair.

The fair also hosts many non-governmental organizations and educational institutions such as Asociacion Espanola de Fabricantes de Equipamento Para Bano (ASEBAN), Confindustria Ceramica Italia (EDI. CER SPA), Industrial Designers Association (ENTA), Turkish Independent Architects Association (TSMD), Denizli Chamber of Commerce (DTO), Eskişehir Anadolu University Institute of Arts, İzmir Association of Construction and Materials, Bozüyük Mimar Sinan High School, Aksaray Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Water Civilizations Exhibition, the Ceramic Exhibition and paintings by disabled artist Semra Çelik are attracting many visitors.
